If you find yourself wondering what your responsibilities are as you sit around your board table, or if you are considering joining a board and want to know what to expect, this workshop is for you.
This workshop is designed to give prospective and current board members an overview of nonprofit board service. The workshop will explore the key roles and responsibilities of board members with particular emphasis on legal, financial oversight, and risk management issues. In addition, participants will have an opportunity to meet and talk with seasoned board members who will share their views on the challenges and rewards of being a nonprofit board member. Small groups will focus on specific governance issues faced by nonprofit boards and discuss different ways of handling challenging situations.
